Who We Are

Founded in 2011, Talem Consulting provides nonprofits the tools they need to build capacity, fundraise, and dismantle systems of inequity. The company is staffed by its principal consultant and eight team members.

Rachel Branaman, the principal consultant, is a graduate of Leadership Texas 2013, has a Master's Degree in Nonprofit Management from Regis University, and a Bachelor's Degree in French from Austin College. Before establishing Talem Consulting, Rachel held a variety of roles in the nonprofit sector ranging from Development Associate to Executive Director, which provided her hands-on experience in executive leadership, marketing, fundraising, grant writing, and project management. She took a hiatus from nonprofit work in 2009 to serve as a community development advisor for the Ministry of Health and Social Services in Namibia through the U.S. Peace Corps.

Rachel began volunteering at the age of 10 for the local library's Summer Reading Program and continued to actively volunteer throughout high school, college, and beyond with organizations like YoungLife, Center for Survivors of Torture, and International Rescue Committee (IRC) of Dallas. In recent years, she has volunteered as a member of the City of Takoma Park's Grants Committee, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) D.C. Education Committee, an executive board member for the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Washington D.C. (RPCV/W), and an executive board member-at-large for Association of Philanthropic Counsel (APC).

From an early age, Rachel was afforded the privilege of culturally immersive and educational international travel experiences. This privilege afforded her a gateway to a deeper appreciation of diverse cultures, expanded her cultural competence, and began ongoing conversations around White privilege and systemic inequity. These experiences helped her build an intersectional and equity-based framework that supports Talem's organizational capacity building.

Rachel's relational management style helps her build strong relationships with nonprofits, corporations, private foundations, and individual philanthropists at local, regional, and international levels. She utilizes an analytical approach to eliminate deficits, build financial reserves, diversify funding, implement new program components, and create a robust organizational culture and infrastructure.

You can have these same tools in your fundraising toolbox when you work with Talem Consulting. We will work to support your organization's mission, whether your agency's budget is $250,000, $1 million, $5 million, or $100 million. Our team will ensure that you receive the best possible service to develop, grow, and distinguish your agency.
