Talem Consulting, a consulting firm providing capacity building services for nonprofits throughout the United States, is looking for a Grant Writing and Research Intern to play a vital role in supporting mission driven impact for its clients. The firm is looking for dynamic, detail-oriented intern that is interested in gaining experience in grant writing and fundraising. The intern must be able to create a compelling case for support utilizing up-to-date research and statistics. We are looking for someone who can bring a creative spark to help our clients share their mission and values.

Talem Consulting works with a variety of organizations ranging from social justice, reproductive health, youth services, social services, as well as national and international organizations. The Grant Writing and Research intern has the opportunity to work with Talem staff to gain valuable experience in the administration of a nonprofit organization. Our goal is to help you attain a broader understanding of the organizational importance of development; while gaining insight and experience with the inner workings of the organization, and becoming familiar with nonprofit programming and initiatives.

You will be a go-getter, self-starter, big-picture, strategist with an eye for detail with a willingness to support Talem and its clients with your work. You will have the opportunity to shape narratives to support clients fundraising needs and should have writing, research, communication, and basic administrative knowledge including MS Office. Responsibilities:

  • Identify and review research reports and articles relevant to clients’ program offerings.

  • Shape findings into a compelling case for supporting individual clients.

  • Ensure all research citations throughout grants materials are properly cited.

  • Assist in editing proposal templates and grant submissions.

  • Research and identify prospective institutional donors for clients.

  • Assist with administrative duties.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to supporting our clients’ missions.

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program preferred.

  • Previous volunteer work or internships at a nonprofit is beneficial but not required.

Commitment and Compensation:

  • Part-time Internship: 5 hours/week for 12 weeks.

  • Flexible work environment with the opportunity to work from home.

  • Weekly phone check-ins with Talem staff.

  • The internship is paid at $15/hour, no benefits provided. Payment is made at the end of each month.

Our hiring process and timeline

  • We will review applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

  • We will conduct short phone interviews in July and request a work sample relevant to the position.

  • We would like to have the selected candidate start in July with an anticipated start date of July 17 through October 6.
